BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WHO says St. Kitts does not participate in Halloween? On the night of Saturday, October 31, persons came out in their numbers to party in style at various Halloween events.

Some of the events held on that night included a college party at Potential Bar, a Halloween party at Ma Pau and the Ghouls and Fools party held at the Cane Club at the Royal St. Kitts Hotel.

The one held at the Cane Club seemed to be the biggest Halloween party of the night, with a very large turnout. It was organised by 20-year-old Andrew Arthurton of Big Drew Productions. Arthurton, who donned a Hugh Heffner-inspired costume at the party and had his playboy bunnies at the door, said he felt the event was a huge success and was extremely pleased with the turnout.

“Honestly, I was shocked. When I went to get more ice I was wondering why so many people were on the outside. I was thinking something happened only to find out they were just waiting to get inside,” he said.

Arthurton said he was also pleased that a large amount of people who attended the party got into the Halloween spirit and wore costumes.

The party lasted until the wee hours of Sunday, as persons danced away to the sounds of Sweet Sister Sensia, Evolution, DJ Flames and Chalice Sound.

He also said that three persons won prizes for their costumes: Verneen Rawlings for Sexiest Costume, as she donned a female police outfit with fish net stocking.

The Best Costume overall went to Glen Osborne, who was dressed as 'Jigsaw' from the movie ‘Saw’, while Arthurton said he did not see much unique costumes for that prize but would award Jason Hanley wearing a mask from the movie ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, which he thought was very interesting.

The winners will receive VIP treatment at the next Big Drew event, which includes free entrance, no waiting in line and $50 worth of drinks.

Arthurton said his next event would be his annual birthday bash, which he is looking at hosting at the Cane Club on November 28.
