Dr. Drew showers praises on SKNLP’s Candidate in Con. 2

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AS the campaigns for the 2022 General Elections about to kick off, Leader of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party, Dr. Terrance Drew is raining down praises on Marsha Henderson, the party’s representative for Constituency Two.

Henderson took over the reins from former Parliamentarian Marcella Liburd who lost her seat at the 2020 General Elections to Jonel Powell of the People’s Action Movement’s (PAM).

During the annual Labour Day March, which returned this year after a two year hiatus due to COVID, Dr. Drew and Henderson publicly embraced during the parade through the streets of Basseterre.

And now the Leader is seeking to build up his candidate as he propels the party to return to form the next Federal Government.

While speaking at the opening of the Central Basseterre Constituency Office, Dr.  Drew noted that the Attorney-at-Law has the capacity to lead the constituency.

“Comrade Marsha has been one serving the people all her life. Her life as a lawyer is about service to people,” he reflected.

She will be going up against the People’s Action Movement and Incumbent Representative, Jonel Powell and also the People’s Labour Party candidate, Nubean Greaux.

Drew believes that the lawyers' transition into the political realm to compete against the two individuals would be smooth and natural, since it would be a step up from the work she is already doing.

“This is not about her, but it is that she represents the best of our new generation; that is fervent leadership. Service to the people,” he added. “She brings with her a freshness, a newness. She carries with her hope of a new day here in St. Kitts and Nevis.

With her new office opened at the same location as that of the previous representative on Lower Central Street between Market and College Streets, the SKNLP representative stated that she would use it as one means of listening and responding to the issues of the people.

She reflected on the formation of the Team Unity concept, pointing out that after 2015 the founding principles were pushed out and the majority of the Cabinet  did not support the sitting Prime Minister.

While Henderson and others within the party centered their attacks against the Prime Minister, she described the current time as a “critical” period within the Federation.

While highlighting at the time that the Government is is chaos, she called on her constituents to be ready.

With the launch of its candidates and the recent Labour Day Rally, she believes that the support from the party’s faithful is a clear indication that they are ready to return the SKNLP to government.

Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris on Tuesday (May 10) dissolved the Parliament and had indicated that he would soon announce a date for the holding of elections.
