Amory Enterprises donates to the restoration of typhoon damage in Taiwan

Kittitian entrepreneur Earnest Amory hands over cheque Ambassador Rong-chuan Wu
By: Press Release, Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan)

Kittitian entrepreneur Earnest Amory handed over a check of $ 3,000 to Ambassador Rong-chuan Wu to support the reconstruction project of damage caused by the devastating typhoon Morakot, which occurred in the southern part of Taiwan in early August this year. Representing the government and people of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Ambassador Wu expressed heartfelt gratitude to the generosity and warmness of Amory enterprises.

On behalf of the Amory Enterprises and his brother Reginald Amory, Mr. Amory said that over the last 26 years Taiwan has contributed tremendously to the development of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. Taiwan’ assistance to the Federation in the fields of infrastructure, educational and agricultural establishments and others is well received and appreciated by all the Kittitians and Nevisians. Although natural disasters happen everywhere, he especially felt sorry while the news of devastation caused by Typhoon Morakot arrived in St. Kitts. He also humbly mentioned that the donation was merely a token of appreciation and thanks to Taiwan and means to assist the restoration now being under way in Taiwan.

The Embassy sponsored a charity bazaar of agricultural produce and consumer electronics earlier this month to raise funds for the above-mentioned reconstruction project, which will cost as high as 4.7 billion US dollars. All the donations and raised funds will be directly forwarded to Red Cross and related Nature Disasters Relief organizations in Taiwan.
