Amongst a party-like atmosphere at Greenlands Park on Saturday (Jun. 18), Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris had launched the following candidates: Jacquline Bryan (Constituency One); Nubian Greaux (Constituency Two); Akilah Byron-Nisbett (Constituency Three); Kendale Liburd (Constituency Four); Stachio Williams (Constituency Five);  Dr. Marc William (Constituency Six); and Andrew Talbo Bass (Constituency Eight).

The PLP will heading into the Elections with incumbent Prime Minister and Parliamentary Representative for Constituency 7, Dr, Timothy Harris at the helm, seeking to repeat. And he is confident that the party would romp to victory in all eight constituencies on St. Kitts and would likely gain support from the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP).

“Tonight we show them that class is class and you can’t buy it!” noted Harris. “Tonight we show them that we are the champions of the people. Tonight we show them that we shall win this election, and I promise you, I promise you I shall deliver all eight seats!”

The veteran politician has six new candidates on his slate, with the incumbent Parliamentary Representative for Constituency Three being the only regular within the mix; and she too is confident of retainng her seat.

During the launch, Byron-Nisbett, who serves as the Minister of Health, Entertainment, et al, listed her accomplishments over the past two years, which include providing upgrades at the Joseph N France General Hospital, and enhancement of the skills of nurses and other medical practitioners at the facility as well as around the Federation.

“Two years ago, the people of West Basseterre put their faith in me  to be their candidate, to be their representative, and yes I know West Basseterre will do it again,” expressed Byron-Nisbett.

Popular media entrepreneur, Stachio Williams, who will seek to unseat Leader of the People’s Action Movement, Shawn Richards,  promised to provide for the people of the Constituency, pointing out that he has been waiting for a long time to be able to deliver for all those people in that district.

“Today we begin to deliver that new secure future for the people of Constituency Five - the people of Sandy Point, Figtree and  La Valley,” Williams stated.

Bryan used the occasion to reflect from whence she came and what she she has planned for the young people and the elders within the community. She is also promising to provide support for the small mom and pop shops within the area.

She also pledged to provide an enabling environment for the many of the elders within Constituency One.

Liburd, who is an educator, promised that should he be elected, the Constituency would be buzzing with activities. As part of his campaign plans, he “pledged to take action for our home for our community that raised me. I want to empower the little boys and little girls to manifest their dreams just like I am doing here”.

Meanwhile, Bass, who is popular within the St. Peter’s area, is adamant that he could return the seat as he faces a challenge from St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party’s Dr. Terrance Drew and People’s Action Movement’s Chelsy Hamilton.

The Prime Minister has not yet confirmed a date for the General Elections, but after Saturday’s launch the campaigns are now expected to be in full swing as the announcement of a date is imminent.
