BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - IN what many believe could be the start of a wave across the region, the old political guard in Grenada - Dr. Keith Mitchell and the NNP - have been voted out of office when the Elections dust settled in Grenada last evening (Jun. 23).
Mitchell, 75, who is one of the longest serving figures in politics across the region and within governments on the island, was seeking another term before he called it quits from the political arena.
Reporters out of St. George’s noted that the voters entrusted the government and its affairs to 44-year-old Attorney Dickon Mitchell of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Dr. Keith Mitchell and his New National Party (NNP) swept the 2018 General Elections 15-0, but the tide changed during the early Elections, with the party only winning six seats.
Preliminary results showed that the incumbent NNP won 28,959 to NDC 31,398.
