CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - POLICE have confirmed that a body, which was discovered on Nevis yesterday (Jun. 27), is that of male who had reportedly drowned on that island on Wednesday (Jun. 22).
According to media reports, Trevoy Liburd’s body was found yesterday at Black Bay in Nevis. A photo from the scene showed officers and members of the public at the scene.
On Wednesday, Liburd was said to have gone diving at Round Hill with a friend in the Indian Castle area when he did not resurface.
Police did not provide much details but the Commissioner of Police did confirm the find yesterday to reporters.
Liburd is the son of retired Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Liburd.
Premier Mark Brantley expressed condolences to the bereaved family members of the deceased.
“I have lost a friend, not an ordinary friend but an extraordinary friend. Rest in peace Trevy Liburd. I shall never forget you. My deepest condolences to his father Joseph Liburd and his siblings and his entire family. All of Nevis mourns with you,” Brantley wrote on his social media page.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
