CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – THE Nevis Housing and Land Development Corporation (NHLDC) launched its 25th Anniversary Month with an Open House on Saturday (Nov. 7) in Cherry Gardens at the unit which is at stake in the organisation’s raffle.
Visitors to the site were afforded a tour of the two-bedroom house which was furnished for the occasion by TDC. The Little Angel model is just one of the three two-bedroom units built by the NHLDC in Cherry Gardens; the others being the Pink Lily and the Victoria. Models also include the Bamboo, the Rose, the Rosette and the Oualie which all have three bedrooms, including a master room, and two baths.
NHLDC Administrator Hazeldine Lewis told this media house Saturday’s Open House was organised to encourage persons to purchase tickets for the raffle. She said sales have been slow but are expected to increase rapidly as December 24 approaches, the date of the drawing. Tickets cost $50 and are available at NHLDC Head Office.
Other activities scheduled for November include a cancer care walk on November 14, in association with Pink Lily Cancer Care; a church service at the Eden Brown Church of God on November 22; a drag-race meeting; and an anniversary dance and modelling at the Nevis Club.
Next Saturday’s walk begins at the Cotton Ground bus stop at 6:00 a.m. and finishes at the Artisan Village on Old Hospital Road. Registration, which costs $50, takes place on Thursday and Friday at the Memorial Square in Charlestown and will include a T-shirt and a breakfast ticket. Water will also be provided during the walk.
According to Lewis, 70 percent of the proceeds from the walk would go to the Nevis Health Department and the rest to Pink Lily.
