BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE first of several Carnival/LIME events began last Friday (Nov. 6) at Independence Square, where members of the public received many giveaways following the launch of the official Carnival lineup.

The events will be held every Friday until December 11, and is expected to feature contestants for various shows as well as entertainers who are known for livening up Carnival. It was hosted by the popularly known emcee Sugar Bowl, while Lights Out Band provided the music.

Persons were at the square texting away to win several household and food items including Toaster Ovens. According to Terrence Crossman, VP Corporate Sales for LIME in a previous press release, the telecommunications provider continues to support National Carnival because of the role it plays in developing a strong national identity.

“National Carnival is vital to St. Kitts and Nevis’ brand development,” Crossman stated.

He further said that as the leading telecommunications company in the Federation, which is due in part to the strength of their brand, they recognise the value of National Carnival and continue to pledge their commitment.

Calypsonian ‘Newsflash’, who is a former Best of the Rest King, sang one of his past popular tunes following the end of the LIME giveaways.

The promotions begin from 3-7 p.m.
