BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IT was no surprise that 14-year-old Amanny Greene would have captured the title, as she performed exceptionally well Saturday night (Nov. 7) to win all five categories of the Shadorama Queen Pageant.

Greene won the awards for the Introductory Speech, Best Community Impersonator, Best talent, Creative Wear and Interview.

The show was held at Shado-city in the vicinity of Shadwell and was a part of the revived Shadorama Festival, which began on Nov. 1 and ended Nov. 7.

In the First Runner-up position was Natacia Claxton while Alexia Farrel was voted Second Runner-up. The other contestants were Carol Dore, who won the Miss Photogenic Award, and Shernee Morton.

The show was emceed by Calypso Reggie while the Grand Masters Band provided music for the night. The show, which got off to a late start, also featured performances by several calypsonians including King Konris, who performed his‘Trophy Case’ hit before an excited audience.

Hollywood and King La La also entertained the fairly large crowd while local dancehall singer Cinnamon also spiced up the night. The show was truly a cultural reminiscence, as stated in a previous interview with the Committee’s Advisor and Public Relations Officer, Winston ‘Zack’ Nisbett.

The contestants, during their performance, took the audience back into the days of Sugar, as the Talent segment was based on the Sugar Crop and Industry. They also enlightened the audience about the past stalwarts of Shadwell.

The Pageant commenced with a May Pole fanfare. For the Evening Wear segment, the contestants were required to take the national wear of St. Kitts and Nevis and add their personal design to it.

The major sponsor for the pageant was Forum Deco.

The winner and runners-up each received a number of gifts and prizes.
