BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, November 13th 2009 (PAM Secretariat) – People’s Action Movement Political Leader Lindsay Grant has declared that persons seeking assistance and sponsorship from him would continue to receive assistance in whatever way he could assist them.
He said that despite his involvement in politics he would continue to support community, youth, sports and cultural oriented initiatives and projects.
Grant pointed out that he has always been someone who has had a genuine interest in supporting initiatives and projects within the community and therefore wanted to continue connecting with the community.
“It pains my heart to see that a number of sporting, cultural and other events, projects and programmes are not given the level and kind of support needed as we attempt to rid the social ills that continue to plague our community and, therefore, I see it as part of my responsibility to lend whatever assistance that I can,” Grant declared.
He said that irrespective of one’s political persuasion he would continue to recognize the “youth segment” of the population as its “key sector for bringing about change”. Accordingly, he said that he would continue to reach out to that segment of the population, wherever they are.
Grant stressed that his personal commitment to continue supporting initiatives, projects and programmes within the Federation remains undiminished and that despite the many difficulties and challenges he has and continues to face as a result of the economic meltdown, he is still pumping significant financial resources into the Federation.
Pointing out his style of giving back, Grant said he would be paying more attention to “longer term commitment” to the local charities that he supports. The PAM Leader added: “Essentially, I am going to do the same thing that I have been doing all along, but I am going to try to do them differently.”
