BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - GOVERNOR-GENERAL Sir S. W. Tapley Seaton was forced to clear his name after a report has been circulating on social media alleging that he had launched a project geared towards helping persons become wealthier.
The report has prompted the GG to refer the matter to the police.
In a statement from Government House through the St. Kitts-Nevis Information Service, the Governor-General noted: “It has just been brought to my attention that there is a story on the internet claiming to emanate from the St. Kitts Nevis Observer.com and purporting to report a matter attributed to me.”
In that report, which is primarily on social media site ‘I like It’, noted that it was geared towards helping persons make money.
But the Governor-General said: “I unreservedly refute this story as false and malicious in an attempt to involve me in a matter of which I have no knowledge.”
He continued: “I have, and I am fully engaged in the discharge of my duties as Governor-General and condemn this as false and malicious.
Local radio station, WINN Media, reported that the article could be found on siegecord.za.com, but checks by SKNVibes News found that up to press time, the page was inaccessible.
