Local elections slated for December

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

CHARLESTOWN, Nevis -- PREMIER Mark Brantley this evening (Nov. 24) announced that the people on the island of Nevis would go to the polls on December 12 to cast their ballots for the new Nevis Island Administration Government.

The Premier, during an address, highlighted the work his Government carried out over the last five years, including leading the island through the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

He told the people of Nevis that he had advised the Prime Minister that the Nevis Island Assembly would be dissolved on Friday, November 25 and that Nominations Day is slated for December 5.

The announcement comes against the backdrop of the Nevis Evangelical Association calling on the Premier to not stage elections during the Christmas period as they celebrate the “season of Advent”.

    More in a subsequent report.
