BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 14TH 2009 (CUOPM) – News that British Airways is to add a second weekly flight into St. Kitts’ Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport has been welcomed by Leader of the Opposition in the Federal Assembly, the Hon. Mark Brantley.
“This is brilliant news for St. Kitts which continues to attract more and more airlift,” said the Nevisian-born Parliamentarian in a brief comment posted on the St. kitts-Nevis List.
Federal Minister of State for Tourism, Sports and Culture, Sen. the Hon. Richard Skerritt recently said that the new British Airways flight starting in March next year offers welcome news, bringing hope and a ray of light to the island’s tourist industry
He disclosed that British Airways brought in more than 4,000 passengers to St. Kitts during the first half of this year.
The second scheduled weekly flight from London’s Gatwick Airport into the Robert Bradshaw Airport will take off on Tuesday 23rd March 2010 and will immediately increase capacity to the St. Kitts and Nevis destination, while offering even greater flexibility to the duration of visitor nights.
Sen. Skerritt expressed delight that British Airways has had the confidence in the future growth of tourism in St. Kitts and Nevis to bring in two new flights in just 14 months. On January 10, 2009, the first scheduled British Airways service touched down to great fanfare.
