11 countries confirmed for the Digicel Haynes Smith Miss Caribbean 2009 Pageant

    BASSETERRE, St Kitts (November 17th 2009):-The Haynes Smith Youth Club is delighted to announce that 11 contestants from around the region have confirmed their participation in the 30th anniversary of the Digicel Haynes Smith Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant.

     

    The Pageant this year is scheduled for Wednesday, December 30th, 2009, at Carnival Village, Basseterre, St. Kitts at 8pm and forms part of the St. Kitts National Carnival Celebrations. Participants are expected to arrive in St. Kitts on 27th and 28th December. We promise the Contestants and overseas guests the usual superb accommodation, hospitality and experience that St.Kitts and Nevis have gained worldwide acclaim for.

     

    Countries confirmed including; Anguilla, Barbados, Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Grenada, Guyana, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, US Virgin Islands and hosts country St.Kitts.

     

    According to Chairman and Executive Producer of the Pageant, Antonio 'Director' Maynard, the Pageant's organizing Committee is working hard to maintain the show's extremely high standard and further enhance its status as one of the most anticipated, exciting and prestigious pageant shows in the Caribbean.

     

    "We expect this year’s pageant, like those before it, to be full of the colour, splendor and dramatic presentations that have come to be synonymous with this event. 'We're continuing to incorporate and implement new initiatives, to raise the show to an even higher standard for this 30th edition,” Maynard said.

     

    "To commemorate the 30th anniversary , we have produced a 30th anniversary song-called “ thirty thirty”, where we expect fans of the show to have it as their ring tone, and it will be played widely on all the radio stations, and on our promotional activities. We have also gave our website –home page a face lift, where one would be able to access all the basic information of the Pageant, including the photos and bios of the 2009 contestants among other things. Let me also take this opportunity to announce that we will be launching a texting competition, through out the entire region, as part of our promotional activities, where member of the publish can text and vote for their favorite contestants accordingly.

     

    More information on this will be release at a subsequent time.

     

    The show has been synonymous over the years with spectacular stage productions and guest performances and performers. Machel Montana, Allison Hinds, Singing Sandra, Edwin Year wood, Jamesy P, Claudette Peters and more, as well as top Caribbean comedians and personalities, including Rachel Price, Tommy Joseph, Jennifer “Jenny Jenny” S$mall among others have all graced the Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant stage.

     

    Marketing and Guest Artiste Coordinator of the show, Wallis Wilkin, indicated that the name of the special guest host and guest artiste for this year's event will be announced shortly. “As always you can expect another great performer this year and an even greater stage show and production,” said Wilkin.

     

    Past contestants in the show including Claudette CP Peters and Pat Raguette, have gone on to regional success as performers. Claudette is a multi-time Antigua Carnival Party and Groovy Soca monarch and Raguette has won both the St Thomas and St Croix road March titles as lead singer of the Express band.

     

    The show will take place on December 30th for the first time to highlight its 30th anniversary. The show has traditionally taken place on December 29th.

     

    The show began in 1980 and is the first show of its kind in the region that showcases the talents of female Caribbean teenagers.
