BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Federation has another athlete qualified for the 50th edition of the CARIFTA Games to be staged in Nassau, Bahamas in April this year.
According to St. Kitts-Nevis Athletics (SKNA), 18-year-old Kamarley Newton of Over the Top Track Club is the Federation’s first male qualifier for the CARIFTA Games
Newton clocked a time of 10.73s at the recently-concluded Twilight meet at the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium on Friday (Jan. 20) in the Boys 100m Dash Open.
He joins Tijuanique Morton, who, over the past week, also attained the qualifying mark in the 200m.
The SKNA in a short statement announced that Morton clocked 24.52s in the 200m for New Mexico Junior College during her indoor run.
That was enough for Morton to punch her ticket to Nassau over the Easter weekend.
During her run, she also set a new personal best in the 60m sprint, finishing with a time of 7.73s.
Officials at St. Kitts-Nevis Athletics Athletics are hopeful of qualifying a strong contingent with huge numbers for the premier junior meet.
