The Cable announces the return of its Make a Wish for the Elderly Project

By: The Cable, Press Release

BASSETERRE, ST KITTS: 25 January, 2023 -- The Cable is pleased to resume its Make-a-Wish for the elderly community outreach project after a pause last year due to COVID-19. The company continues to commit its resources to the much loved and much appreciated social responsibility initiative, hence those who did not receive their gifts and visits last year can look forward to them this February.

“We thank you for your understanding and patience with our decision to defer the program last year.  We did so out of an abundance of caution during the pandemic, which was necessary to ensure the wellbeing of our senior citizens and all other participants in the program. We are therefore delighted that we can meet you again this Valentine’s Day,” announced the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Patricia Walters. “Being in a position to grant the wishes of our elders, to share experiences and to learn from them, is something that is truly dear to the hearts of our employees,” she further added.

The Make-a-Wish for the Elderly is a social outreach program sponsored by The Cable in partnership with the Rotary Club of Liamuiga. To be considered, the company invites nominations from individuals and groups who would like to fulfil the wish of an elderly person, or would like to create a special experience for him or her.  Wishes are granted and gift deliveries made during the week of Valentine’s Day by staff of The Cable and members of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga.

In 2022, as a direct response to inquiries from the public, the company agreed to extend the opportunity to anyone who wished to contribute, and it further agreed to match that contribution. Those funds were secured and rolled over to this year’s project. “We thank all of you who voluntarily stepped forward with your financial support, making it possible to provide more gifts and greater experiences to more seniors this year,” stated Bibiana Henry, Chief Commercial Officer of The Cable.

The company provides the following avenues to persons wishing to nominate a senior citizen: customerservice@thecable.biz, 465-2588, 662-7742, 763-0184, TheCableStkitts on Facebook or Instagram, or in person at their office on Cayon Street. The Nominee’s Name, Contact Number, Address, Specific Wish, and the Nominator’s Name and Contact Number are to be provided.

The Make-a-Wish for the Elderly has been ongoing for the last five years, following its reintroduction and adoption by The Cable in 2019.
