Last evening’s shooting victim identified

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE man who was shot last evening (Feb. 1), while in a business establishment in the Basseterre area, was identified as Sylvester Crossley of McKnight but who was residing at Half Way Tree at the time of his demise.

     

    According to a police press release, ranks had responded to a report of the incidentat about 9:00 p.m., and preliminary investigations revealed that the 30-year-old man had gone into the business establishment.

     

    While waiting there, he was accosted by a lone masked, gunman who shot him several time before fleeing the scene.

     

    The District Medical Officer had pronounced him dead and the crime scene was processed by personnel from the Forensic Services Unit.
     
    As investigations continue, the police are urging persons who might have information regarding this incident to contact the Violent Crimes Unit by dialling 467-1887, 467-1888, 662-3468, the nearest police station or the Crime Hotline at 707, where such information could be given anonymously. 

     

    Crossley’s death has taken to three, the number of homicides committed in the Federation for this year - two on St. Kitts and one on Nevis.

     

    The first was that of 26-year-old Javon Grant of Maddens Estate, Nevis, who was shot multiple time in the vicinity of a bar in Bath Village on Wednesday (Jan. 11). 

     

    The second homicide victim was 29-year-old Dequan Maloney of Morne Heights, Bird Rock, but who was originally from Upper Shaw Avenue, McKnight.

     

    His lifeless body was found within the trunk of a motorcar in the Bird Rock area on Friday (Jan. 27).
