Minister Harris reminisced on her years growing up. She noted that Mrs. Jeffers was one of the persons that she had known as a child and recalled that she was used as a clock especially on Sundays when she would pass by on her way to church. Minister Harris also noted that Ida was never late for church service and since those days clocks were scared, parents in the community would looked out for a reliable person and Mrs. Jeffers was one such persons especially for her timeliness.
The Minister of Gender Affairs presented Ida with a bouquet made of seven white roses as a token of appreciation for her contribution to the community of Brick Kiln and St. James generally, wishing her "a very happy birthday and many more years of good health and may she have eternal rest when that time comes."
Expressing that it is not an easy task to take care of senior citizens, as their needs are different and varied, Minister Harris expressed appreciation to all who have helped in any way to take care of Ida.
