Slovenian tourists sustain serious injuries in traffic acident

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A major accident in the Southeast Pennisula yesterday (Mar. 5) has left two tourists hospitalized and a local citizen is expected to face charges over the incident.

     

    Police reported that around 2:40 p.m. yesterday, a motorcar bearing registration number PA1499, which is owned by Adrian Tuckett of St. Peters but was driven by Makevon Williams of Wade’s Garden, was travelling towards Reggae Beach at the Southeast Peninsular when he lost control of the vehicle going around a curve and collided with a motorcycle (R106) that was travelling in the opposite direction.

     

    The motorcycle is owned by Sunny Blue Scooter Rental and was being driven by Marko Zitek with pillion rider Stasa Mitsa, both of Slovenia, who were passengers on the Celebrity Silhouette cruise vessel.  

     

    Police disclosed that both visitors sustained cuts and bruises about their bodies and, in addition to that, the female sustained a serious injury to her right leg.  

     

    A unit from the Emergency Medical Services had transported them to the JNF General Hospital, where they were treated and warded in stable condition.  serious

     

    Video footage of the accident made rounds on social media and showed the graphic nature of the injuries sustained by one of the tourists. It also showed the tourist lying on the ground in immense pain while bystanders render assistance.

     

    It was revealed in the video that the accident was so severe that the tourist had a section of her leg severed, as the person in the video sweared several times in shock.
