BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE St. Kitts Music Festival Committee (SKMF) has announced its first wave of artistes for the 2023 Festival, which include popular names from across the region and internationally, in the dancehall, Reggae and Soca genres.

During its reveal party last evening (Mar. 5) at the Eco-Park, Patrice Robert, Air Supply, Chronixx, Skinny Fabulous, Koffee, Valiant, Govana, Byron Messia and the Grand Masters Band were revealed as the confirmed acts to perform at the June 22-24 event.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the event, and the Committee noted that the artistes unveiled “are nothing short of amazing, each bringing their own unique style and sound to the stage”.

They described the lineup as “a celebration of diversity, creativity, and pure musical magic”.

The St. Kitts Music Festival has grown over the years and is seen as one of the premier events on the regional calendar of activities since its inception.

Minister of Tourism, Marsha Henderson, who has Responsibility for the Festival, described it as an event that is popular across the region and that she expects this edition to be the “biggest and most exciting one yet”.

Since its inception, the Festival has been attracting music lovers from all parts of the world, and this has played a critical part in driving the tourist arrival numbers up, especially during the off-peak season.

Henderson echoed those sentiments, reminding that the Festival provides a platform where visitors from across the world could enjoy all genres of flavourful music in a stunning island setting for three nights.

The event has also been used as a stage for local acts to perform on the same platform with regional and international performers to bridge the game and provide expert feedback on how it is to make it to the international arena.

“...our local talents will continue to make waves on the global stage. The St. Kitts Music Festival offers more than a musical event. In fact, it is a gateway to immerse oneself to the richness of Kittitian culture and history,” said Henderson.

Since its inception, the Festival has seen popular regional and international artistes gracing the stage, such as Shaggy, 50 Cent, Buju Banton, Lionel Richie, Machel Montano, Ludacris, Eve, Kenny Rogers and Ashanti

The Festival returned last year after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it had lived up to its usual expectations with the likes of Lyrikal, Bunji Garlin & Fay-Ann Lions, Anthony B, Masicka, Christopher Martin and Popcaan, among others.
