BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE son of Crucial Bankie, one of the Federation’s top reggae artiste, is following in his father’s footsteps by pursuing a career in music and recently released a video for his single ‘My Sunshine’.

Myjah Veira, who goes by the moniker Major Myjah, is only 12 years old and he already has many people in the music talking about him. It is said that his international pop style is reminiscent of a crossover artiste like Shaggy.

Earlier this year, Veira released a song that he wrote titled ‘My Sunshine’ and recently released the music video for it, which was shot by Jamaican producer Jason Williams, a.k.a. Jay Will. Williams is known for his creative videos under the label Game Over and has done videos for Shaggy, Mr. Vegas, Jah Cure, Beenie Man, Alaine, Richie Spice and Alison Hinds.

His first single, ‘My Sunshine’, which is a reggae inspired pop song, is getting significant radio airplay in several countries including Germany, Jamaica, Japan and Spain. He has already worked with producers such as Red Rat, Genius, Black Chiney, Leroy ‘Baarbroy’ Romans, and Grammy winning producer Tony Kelly.

He will also be working with seasoned producers Stephen McGregor, T. Mix of Cash Money Records, JR Rothem and several others in the near future. He performed at the Best of the Best International Music Festival event held earlier this year, where he was introduced on-stage and fully endorsed by The Alliance: Bounty Killer, Movado, and Serani.

Following that performance was the GoomBay Festival, where he delivered a high impact performance with the support of his dancers. Not wanting to take away from his son’s shine, Crucial Bankie whose real name is Ian Veira said that he was very proud of his son, who is also a self-taught guitarist.

“I remember when he was about seven years old and he came in front of me and said, ‘Daddy, I’m gonna be just like you’,” he said. “So I’m proud of him and will support him in everything he does.”
