BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- TEAM St. Kitts and Nevis has captured its first Gold Medal at the 2023 CARIFTA Games currently underway in Nassau, Bahamas, with a brilliant run from Akanye Samuel-Francis.
Competing in the Boy's Under-17 400m Hurdles, Samuel-Francis fought off competition from powerhouse Jamaica and the Bahamas to win in a time of 54.14s.
This goes with medals captured on the opening day of the championships.
