Monday, November 23 – Up to 200 of the Territory’s children will have a chance to benefit from the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Holiday Gift Project this year.
For the second consecutive year, Government has agreed to host a Christmas party at which the FCCA will distribute gifts to the children present under its Holiday Gift Project.
In approving the BVI’s participation in the FCCA Holiday Gift Project and in keeping with the charitable nature of the initiative, Cabinet also waived the customs duty on the donated gifts.
The BVI will be among 30 destinations which benefit from the annual FCCA venture which is designed to bring Christmas cheer to under-privileged children.
Beneficiaries in the Territory will come from four institutions, namely the Rainbow Children’s Home, Youth Empowerment Centre, Eselyn Henley Richez Learning Centre and BVI Services.
At the inaugural event last December, Premier Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE said Government readily accepted the invitation to participate because “This endeavour provides the association with an opportunity to give back to local communities and help to spread the joy of Christmas to children in need.”
The Christmas Party will be held on December 14 at Maria’s By the Sea. Premier O’Neal, along with the captain and a few crew members from the ship Grandeur of the Seas will be among those in attendance, to help spread the joy.
