BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A student of the Deane Glasford Primary School was rushed to the Joseph N. France General Hospital late last week after she was allegedly struck by a motor omnibus.

According to Police Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Vaughan Henderson, the incident took place at approximately 4:55 on Thursday (Nov. 19) afternoon.

“Don Davis of Upper Monkey Hill, driver of omnibus HA180, was travelling from St., Peters to Basseterre. When he got in the vicinity of the St. Peters Day Care Centre [opposite the primary school], another omnibus travelling in the opposite direction stopped outside the primary school.  They (the busses) were adjacent to each other. The student ran out of the schoolyard and collided with HA 180,” Henderson said.

Henderson explained that the child sustained “minor injuries” and after being take to the JNF via private transport, she was treated and discharged.
    .
The officer was unable to confirm the age of the child but, according to information relayed to SKNVibes, she is said to be between 10 and 12 years old.

Henderson indicated that investigations into the matter are ongoing and police would determine whether there is or isn’t sufficient evidence for charges to be brought against anyone.
