A Thanksgiving service celebrating the life of Vincent O’Neil Rogers was held at the Wesley Methodist Church Basseterre on Thursday 19th November 2009.

Mr. Rogers was the Managing Director of Singer St. Kitts Ltd, a local business enterprise, serving the St. Kitts- Nevis community for over seventy (70) years.

Mr. Rogers with Singer was a pioneer in the hire purchase business offering the citizens of our twin-island Federation domestic appliances, especially the famous Singer Sewing Machine. In an era when credit was not easily available to the ordinary folk the Singer Store was very accommodating allowing many to own household appliances.

His signature advertisement “ Walk right into Singer and start sewing; Be your own employer, use your ability and develop your sewing skills and earn good money in your own time” helped to encourage and inspire many persons.

The Singer Store is located at the top of Church Street in Basseterre.
