BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a male visitor to the Federation who fell to the floor while at a popular hotel in the Frigate Bay area.
Police have given his name as Gary Welsh, an elderly Caucasian, but they did not provide his country of origin.
However, in their press statement, police indicated that the incident around 8:00 p.m. yesterday (May 9).
The statement also revealed that Welsh, who had arrived on St. Kitts earlier in the day on vacation with his family, reportedly “lost his balance while at a bar on the hotel’s fifth floor”.
It further revealed that officers from the Police Force and a unit from the Emergency Medical Services were summoned to the hotel, from where Welsh was promptly being transported to the Joseph N France General Hospital.
He however succumbed to his injuries before arriving there.
