BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AN autopsy performed on the body of Gary Welch, the tourist who died after falling at a popular hotel in Frigate Bay while on vacation, has revealed the cause of death.
According to a statement from the Police Force yesterday (May 14), the autopsy concluded that his death was as a result of “traumatic brain injury due to skull and bone fractures as a consequence of a fall from several feet”.
Welch, 72, a resident of North Carolina, had arrived in St. Kitts earlier in the day of May 9, and in the evening he fell down a flight of stairs at the hotel after losing his balance.
Police said that while being rushed to the Joseph N France General Hospital, he had succumbed to his injuries.
