Local designer picks up Best Presentation Award in Trinidad

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ST. KITTS’ ‘up and coming’ fashion designer Andre Edwards walked away with the award for Best Presentation at the Heather Jones Designs Fashion Evolution Caribbean Show recently held in Trinidad. 

The event is a newly found element that introduces up-coming talented designers to the Trinidad-based fashion industry. Edwards, a graduate of the Miami International University of Art and Design, said that it was during his time at college when he met and befriended Jones’ daughter, who is also a designer, and was the one who invited him to the event. 

The looks he displayed had the most impactful styling that complemented the models “who wore my feminine dresses, tops and other separates worn”. 

The designer was humbled by the judges choice and stated, “Apparently they heard my voice as a designer from what I sent out on the runway…for that I’m glad my vision is appreciated.” 

The 23-year-old is now more than determined to step forward in the industry with much more confidence after that recent nod from industry professionals. Edwards, who is originally from St. Kitts, relocated to Philadelphia two months ago.
