BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A 15-year-old male student is currently hospitalised following a stabbing incident that took yesterday (May 18) at the Charles E. Mills Secondary School in Sandy Point.

According to a police press release, officers had received reports of an altercation among a number of students of that school, which resulted in the 15-year-old male requiring emergency surgery.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the altercation was among two 15-year-old siblings (male and female) and two other females of the same age, which resulted in the male being stabbed to the back with a pocket knife.

He was transported to the Pogson Hospital and shortly thereafter to the Joseph N France General Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, having suffered a collapsed lung.

The 15-year-old student is warded at the Intensive Care Unit and is listed in stable condition.

Police also informed that the pocket knife was retrieved and taken into custody, and investigations into this incident are ongoing.
