Clash of the High Schools Talent Competition this Saturday

Press Release

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - Year after year the same question has been posed, “Which high school is the most talented high school in St. Kitts?” This year the Clash of the High Schools Talent Competition will answer that question.

All seven high schools on the island will vie for the coveted title and the Grand prize of $1000.00. The participating schools will be Washington Archibald High, Basseterre High, St. Theresa’s Convent, Cayon High, Verchilds High, Sandy Point High and the island’s newest high school, Saddler Secondary.

The Clash of the High Schools is a song and dance competition organized by Island Soul Entertainment and the Department of Youth. Mr. Cheddi Bradshaw, the Island Soul President, says his group has been trying to organize this event for nearly two years and finally in 2009 they are able to see the fruits of their labour.

The competition consists of two categories, song and dance, each of which has two rounds. The first round, which is also an elimination round, will be defined by the theme, “Something Old School – 70’s and 80’s”. After the elimination, four schools will advance to the final round which is a freestyle round.

The Kittitian Superstar 2008 - 2009 Winner, Makeila Armstrong and Sherlan Roland of Fever Radio will host the show. There will also be performance by several local artists including Kittitian Superstar contestant Rolhensha, Masud Sadiki, Infamus, C-Money and Simba.

In a final statement, Mr. Bradshaw mentioned Island Soul Entertainment’s mandate to encourage artistry and musicianship among the young people of the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

He hopes that the Clash of the High School Talent Competition will enable the students to begin successful careers in the entertainment industry.

The Clash of the High Schools will take place in the Carnival Village Complex at Saturday November 28 at 7:00pm.
