BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - MEMBERS of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force RSCNPF) have their hands filled in combating the upsurge in crime and violence, as another homicide has been written in the book of investigations.
Lawmen are now probing the shooting-death of 37-year-old Dwight Jacobs Greenaway, also known as ‘Mac 11’ of Buckley's Estate, which has brought to 17, the number of homicides committed in the Federation for the year.
According to the police, gunshots rang out between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. last evening (June 15) and officers were notified. Upon arrival at the Samuel Williams Playfield in Verchilds, they found the motionless body of Greenaway.
Police in a statement said that he was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was subsequently pronounced dead.
This incident comes just over a week since the Federation recorded four homicides within a 24-hour timeframe, which caused a public outcry as one of the individuals was a popular sports enthusiast.
The RSCNPF has since rolled out a number of new initiatives that it hopes would combat the growing scourge within the Federation.
