BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, FEBRUARY 20TH 2006 - Saturday was another good day for taxi operators and the cruise industry in St. Kitts.
Four cruise ships with nearly 5,000 passengers and almost 2,000 crew were in port, affording them the opportunity to experience market day in Basseterre, one of the busiest days of the week.
Docked at Port Zante were the Freewinds which arrived Friday with 540 passengers and the MS Arcadia, which arrived from Tortola with 1,698 passengers and 886 crew.
Docked at the Deep Water Port was the Ocean Village with 1,923 passengers and crew of 575 crew members, while the Lili Marleen with 529 passengers and a crew of 306 anchored in the Basseterre Roadstead.
The Arcadia, which arrived from Tortola departed for St. Lucia and the Lili Marleen, which arrived from St. Thomas, left for the French island of Martinique.

Visiting St. Kitts on Sunday were the Regatta, which arrived from Virgin Gorda with 665 passengers and a crew of 397 and the Sea Cloud which arrived from St. Barth's with 35 passengers and 63 crew. The Regatta departed for Dominica and the Sea Cloud for Antigua.
Most of the just over 5,000 passengers disembarked and either went sea and sun bathing, casino gambling, snorkeling, golfing, hiking, biking and on island tours with stops at several places of interest including Brimstone Hill and Romney Manor via taxi and the St. Kitts Scenic Railway.
