BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Federation has recorded its 18th homicide for the year with the shooting-death of a male resident of Conaree on Tuesday (July 4).
Police have given the name of the deceased as Garvey Rogers of Polland, Conaree.
In a media statement, police said the incident occurred between 1:30 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Osbourne Street in Cayon.
It also stated that preliminary investigations indicated that shortly after Rogers and a female had exited his vehicle, they were fired upon by a number of assailants, which resulted in him (Rogers) being struck multiple times.
He was pronounced dead at the scene but the female was not injured.
Further investigations however revealed that during the incident, a bullet had grazed the right thigh of a female who was standing in the vicinity of a restaurant on the Cayon Main Road.
She was treated at the Accident and Emergency Department of the Joseph N. France General Hospital and was said to be in stable condition.
Personnel of the Crime Scene Unit processed the scenes and collected a number of items of evidential value which were taken into police custody.
Investigations into this matter are ongoing.
