Four Caribbean nationals jailed for drugs importation

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - FOUR Caribbean nationals were on Monday (July 3) sentenced to serve concurrent terms at His Majesty’s Prison for the importation of drugs that were seized by Customs officials in October, last.

     

    Saleem Kevin Ali, Peter Oliver and Micheal Jevan, all of Trinidad and Tobago, and Desue Mc Farlane of Carricacou were charged for importing Cocaine and Marijuana  which were found aboard MV Elizabeth C, at the St. Kitts Deep Water Port on October 4p;, 2022.

     

    Police reported at the time of the find that the Cocaine weighed 801.3 kilograms or 1,762.86 pounds and had a street value of  $71,369,100, and that the Cannabis  had a street value of $140,160. 

     

    In a statement yesterday (July 5), police disclosed that Ali was sentenced to three years for the Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply, and three years for the Importation of Cannabis. Both sentences will run concurrently.

     

    Scotland was sentenced to five years and four months for the Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply; five years and four months for the Importation of Cocaine, and five  years and four months for the Possession of Cocaine. 

     

    Micheal Jevan Jack of Trinidad was sentenced to three years for the Importation of Cannabis, and three years for the Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply. His sentences are set to run concurrently.

     

    According to the Police statement,  Mc Farlane received eight years and four months for Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply; and eight years and four months for the Importation of Cocaine. 

     

    He also received four years and 10 months for the Importation of Cannabis; four years and 10 months for the Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply; and eight years and 10 months for the Possession of Cannabis. His sentences are set to run concurrently.
