By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - POLICE this morning (Aug. 14) confirmed that the four nationals of Nevis, who were reported missing at sea, were safely found and would likely be returning to the Federation sometime today.

According to the police, the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force Coast Guard had indicated that they received information of a missing vessel that was returning from Anguilla Poker Run that encountered difficulty at sea.

A search was conducted by the Statia Coast Guard, which stated that they had found an overturned vessel but none of its occupants.

This morning, however, Deputy Commissioner of Police Cromwell Henry confirmed that the Nevisians were found by authorities in St. Maarten.

According to media reports, the vessel had encountered engine problems while on its way back to the Federation.

A fishing vessel, ‘Spirit of Saba’, had located the four Nevisians off the coast of Saba  and they are reportedly all in good health.

“They were taken to Saba where the Police and the Harbour Master, along with the Dutch Coast Guard, were doing some interviews,” Captain Carlus Garnette of the St. Kitts and Nevis Coast Guard told WINN FM.

WINN FM  reported that the vessel would remain in Saba until conditions are conducive for it to travel to the Federation.
