...two suspects remain at large
CHARLESTOWN, Nevis -- POLICE have their hands filled with the level of criminal activities occurring in the Federation, as RAM’s Supermarket has once again been the target of thieves - this time on Nevis.
Just over one week after two of its outlets in St. Kitts were hit by robbers, RAM’s Nevis outlet has been the latest target.
According to eyewitness reports, at about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 19), five armed men had entered the supermarket with the intention of robbing same.
Police told reporters that the assailants had attacked the security guard with an umbrella and proceeded to demand the cashiers to open the cash registers. but they were unable to get them opened and eventually aborted their plan and fled the scene in a vehicle that was stolen from a customer who was entering the supermarket.
That stolen vehicle, according to the police, was recovered by officers at Long Point.
According to preliminary investigations, nothing was stolen from the establishment and that ranks had pursued the vehicle in the Brown Hill area with four suspects within.
During the pursuit, the vehicle had crashed into a wall and one of the men fled the scene on foot, but the three other were caught and taken into custody.
At that time, however, the fifth individual is nowhere to be seen.
RAM’s Bird Rock and Camps outlets in St. Kitts were hit by armed, masked assailants on August 12th and police have since taken five persons into custody in connection with the incidents.
