Fourth suspect charged in RAM’s Supermarket attempted robbery on Nevis

    CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - POLICE have again made inroads into the attempted robbery at RAM’s Supermarket outlet on Nevis, as a fourth individual was charged in relation to the incident. 

     

    The fourth suspect, according to a police media statement, is Lukelly Carmichael of Morning Star, who charged  at the New Castle Police Station on Saturday (Sept. 3) with three warrants for the offence of Assault with Intent to Rob.\

     

    According to eyewitness reports, at about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 19), five armed men had entered the supermarket with the intention of robbing same. 

     

    Police told reporters that the assailants had attacked the security guard with an umbrella and proceeded to demand the cashiers to open the cash registers. but they were unable to get them opened and eventually aborted their plan and fled the scene in a vehicle that was stolen from a customer who was entering the supermarket. 

     

    According to preliminary investigations, nothing was stolen from the establishment and ranks had pursued the vehicle in the Brown Hill area with four suspects within. 

     

    During the pursuit, the vehicle had crashed into a wall and one of the men fled the scene on foot, but the three other were caught and taken into custody, but the fifth individual was nowhere to be seen.

     

    The three individuals who were taken into custody were Clijuarn Henry of Rawlins Village, Nevis; Kennedy Rodriguez of Pines Garden, Shadwell, St. Kitts; and T’iquan Pennyfeather of Conaree Village/Monkey Hill, St. Kitts; all of whom were charged on three warrants for the offence of Assault with Intent to Rob on Wednesday (Aug. 23).

     

    Henry was charged at the New Castle Police Station, while Rodriguez was charged at the Charlestown Police Station, and Pennyfeather at the Cotton Ground Police Station.

     

    The charges, police said, followed a search that was executed on the vehicle Henry was driving after a brief chase by law enforcement officers that ended with Henry colliding with a wall along the Brown Hill main road.

     

    The search had resulted in the collection of some items of evidential value and apprehension of the trio, police said.
