The Cable celebrates 40 years of stellar service to St Kitts

By: The Cable, Press Release

BASSETERRE, ST KITTS 7 September, 2023 -- St. Kitts-Nevis Cable Communications Limited, known commonly as The Cable, is celebrating a milestone anniversary this year.  Like the nation of St Kitts & Nevis, the company turns 40 on September 19, 2023.  It was on this day that the company officially received the green light to operate in St Kitts & Nevis. In fact, its first broadcast was the live coverage of independence activities, in September 1983.

The Cable, still affectionately called Cable TV by many of its longest serving loyal customers, provides TV and Internet services in St. Kitts and is the first and currently, the only non-financial institution that offers a customer loyalty prepaid card.

“As a fully locally-owned company that provides telecoms services in St. Kitts, we are proud of our achievements and are proud of our brand. We have made Internet service affordable, available and accessible to all, ensuring that our people can compete with confidence in the global space, and we have helped immensely in advancing the cause of our people across all spectrums of our community”, said Pat Walters, the company’s first female Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. William Ewing, first CEO of The Cable shared, “The Cable has always been a pioneer, investing in TV, Fiber and Broadband Internet before anyone else did.  Its vision, partnerships, diligence and competence of its staff and the loyalty of its customers have propelled it from a small 8-channel television company on Central Street to the dominant provider of TV and Internet services in St. Kitts today.”

Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Russell Halbert added his congratulations to the management and staff of The Cable on its landmark achievement. “Over the decades your hard work and dedication have jettisoned us from a small television broadcast provider to a telecommunications market leader. Your contribution to our company has not gone unnoticed. The Board of Directors will spare no effort to ensure the long-term viability of our company thus enabling us to continue to provide critical services to the general public, and more specifically the less fortunate citizens of our developing nation. As an indigenous company, it’s our responsibility to deliver reliable services that will enable our citizens to enrich themselves culturally, economically and socially”.

The four-decades old company is planning several celebratory activities to run from September 2023 to May 2024. It will mark this milestone anniversary with a number of activities including Corporate Worship, Community Projects, Story Telling activities, Community Engagement seminars, Daily and Weekly Giveaways and much more.

The Cable wishes to take the opportunity to say thank you to its customers, employees, corporate partners and well-wishers, and pledges its continued commitment to nation building, and to the health and well-being of the people of St. Kitts-Nevis, by always giving more where it matters.
