BASSETERRE St. Kitts - A man was very fortunate to have only suffered a gunshot injury to one of his legs, following an incident in which he was allegedly advancing with a weapon to attack a member of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF).
According to a brief statement from the police yesterday (Oct. 12), the incident occurred in Old Road between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
Police reported that an officer shot a man (unidentified) in one of his legs “after he had attacked a civilian and was advancing to attack the officer”.
The matter is being investigated and additional information would be provided once available, the police said.
This matter is likely to gain the attention of the internal investigative arm of the Police Force for review. ]
Over the last several years, there had been a number of police ranks who were involved in shooting incidents but no information on the findings following internal investigation was released.
Following numerous request by media operatives for updates, they were told that the matters were before the courts awaiting decisions.
