BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - POLICE are investigating a shooting incident in Sandy Point that left one man warded at the JNF General Hospital.

The incident, according to a police media statement, occurred between 05hrs and 06hrs on on Saturday (Oct. 14).

The victim’s name was given as James Ham of Farm Site, Sandy Point.

He reportedly told the police that he was awoken by the sound of footsteps in his yard, and while looking out a window to ascertain the source a masked individual fired a shot in his direction and fled the scene.

That shot, he added, struck him on his left shoulder and he reportedly sought medical attention at the Pogson Hospital in Sandy Point, from where a unit from the Emergency Medical Services later transported him to the JNF General Hospital.

Ham is currently warded at that medical institution and is reportedly in stable condition.

Ranks of the Crime Scene Unit had processed the scene and items of evidential value were taken into custody.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing and the police are requesting anyone who might have information about this and any other criminal matter to contact the nearest police station or the Crime Stoppers’ Hotline at 707.
