BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, FEBRUARY 21ST 2006 - The Republic of China on Taiwan has donated another US$500,000 towards the redevelopment of Warner Park.
The ROC's Ambassador to St. Kitts and Nevis, His Excellency Mr. John Liu handed over the cheque to the Federation's Prime Minister and Minister of Sports, Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, following a tour of the Warner Park facilities, one of the venues for World Cup Cricket 2007, under construction.
The tour was organised by Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture, Sen. the Hon. Richard Skerritt, the former Chief Executive Officer of World Cup St. Kitts and Nevis Limited.

Ambassador Liu said he was happy to inspect the new development of Warner Park and also to see that the work is progressing ahead of schedule.

been taking place so far. Let me extend our most sincere congratulations to the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis on being selected as one of the many venues for hosting the World Cup Cricket Tournament 2007," said Ambassador Liu.
He noted that the Republic of China has donated US$4.4 million for the construction of the stadium and made a presentation to Prime Minister Douglas of US$500,000 towards the redevelopment project.
Commending Prime Minster Douglas and his Cabinet for the "dynamic leadership and foresight regarding the Warner Park Development Project," Ambassador Liu said he was certain that the "completion of the Warner Park Cricket Facility and with the hosting of the World Cup, the tourism industry in your country, be brought to new heights as you see enthusiastic cricket fans enter your country."
Ambassador Liu said the hosting of World Cup Cricket will "certainly have a tremendous impact on your economy."
