President of the Evangelical Association, Bishop Ron Dublin-Collins
By: Ron Dublin-Collins, Evangelical Association

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - The St Kitts Evangelical Association is partnering with the Billy/Franklin Graham Ministries in bringing Operation Christmas Child, the shoe-box ministry of Samaritan's Purse, to our children in St Kitts. This will become an annual event for our island. Operation Christmas Child is a fun and simple, hands-on project of Samaritan’s Purse which provides gift-filled shoe boxes to bless our children at Christmas. This project is done through an evangelistic outreach ministry event which affords our children an opportunity to experience Jesus and have a personal relationship with Him through a voluntary discipleship program.

Operation Christmas Child began on October 10, 1990, with Dave and Jill Cooke of Wrexham, Wales. In 1993, Franklin Graham, International President of Samaritan’s Purse, adopted Operation Christmas Child as a project of the ministry. Samaritan’s Purse delivers more than 68 million shoe box gifts to children in over 130 countries around the world bringing them the message of hope, joy, and love. This year, December 2009, Operation Christmas Child will come to the homes of our children in St Kitts.

The St Kitts Evangelical Association (SKEA) is working in partnership with our evangelical church community in implementing this project. The project provides a tangible demonstration of God's love, and an opportunity to minister to children. It will therefore be used a tool in evangelizing our nation’s children. Some 2,500 gifts will be distributed in this year in five zones:

Zone I (Basseterre-East): at the People’s Evangelistic Centre, NeedsMust.

Zone II (Basseterre-West): at the Word of Life New Testament, Central Street.

Zone III (Rural East): at the Cayon Church of God.

Zone IV (Rural West): at the Faith Tabernacle, Old Road.

Zone V (Rural North): at the Pentecostal Church of God, Saddlers Village.

The Children Crusade Services and Shoe Box Gift Distribution will be held on Wednesday 23 December 2009, at 7:00pm at the venues listed above.
