    Friday, December 4 – The Department of Human Resources and Training Division met recently to chart the 2010 year as part of their fifth annual planning day under the theme “UNITY”.

     

    The staff met at Lambert Beach Resort on the 11th of November, where various top managers were also on hand to inspire and encourage the participants as they gathered to plan their activities for the upcoming year.

     

    A message from His Excellency the Governor David Peary stated, “The work you are all engaged in developing and implementing policies designed to raise the morale, productivity and skills level of our staff and to improve the standards of staff management is of critical importance.”
     
    Deputy Governor Mrs. V. Inez Archibald offered opening remarks of encouragement to the Department and referred to them as “the engine room” of the Public Service. She insisted that the theme of “UNITY” was significant in achieving the Department’s mission.
     
    A brief message was also delivered by the Director of Human Resources Mr. David Archer as he encouraged the department to play an active role in the enhancement of the Department throughout their contributions towards the day and upcoming year. The Deputy Director of Human Resources Mrs. Donovan-Stevens stated that the Department will focus on efficiency in 2010, "There is a global understanding that organisations are required to maximise existing resources while making operational expenses leaner, and this approach has been fully embraced by the Department of Human Resources and Training Division." 
     
    Messages were also delivered to the Departments via video from the Financial Secretary and various Permanent Secretaries.
     
    The day’s activities were centered on improvement, prioritizing and planning to prevent undesirable outcomes, effective planning and effective decision making and management. The day concluded with the Department of Human Resources and Training Division leaving with a renewed and collective plan to enhance their work and services in the upcoming year.
     
    This year’s planning day was facilitated by Dr. Haldane Davies of Orion Consultancy. The 2010 Department of Human Resources/Training Division Work Plan will be made available within the first quarter of the upcoming year.
