Liburd asks vandals to stop

The Hon. Cedric Liburd
Labour Secretariat

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, December 2nd 2009 (Lbour Secretariat) - Hon. Cedric Liburd, Parliamentary Representative for Constituency 8 and lifelong St. Peter’s resident has expressed his concern with the damaging of the Hamilton signs along the main road of St. Peter’s community on Monday.

Liburd asked the perpetrator or perpetrators to desist from this practice of vandalism. “Damaging boards is wrong and the person or persons who have done this should stop it.

“Vandalism is an offence in the eyes of the law and as a candidate in this election I will always stand for law and order and ask all people to do the same.”

The Labour Party Candidate for the upcoming elections went on to say that his candidacy and his supporters “ will not descend to the gutter politics of damaging the signs of PAM. My campaigns have always been about fairness and voting with one’s conscience. It would therefore be unconscionable of me to condone anybody to do such a thing.

“Eventually my signs will come out in Cayon, Key’s, Conaree, Needsmust and in my home town of St. Peter’s and I expect all people to respect my candidacy and the progress and democracy for which I stand.”

There have been other signs in the community that have been vandalized including some signs bearing the words “It’s Working” that have been painted with graffiti.

However, Liburd did not rule out the possibility of a PAM led conspiracy to destroy board made of a substandard material to seek to score cheap political mileage and sympathy. “Hamilton’s back is to the wall. He will do anything to ensure that the teacher-calypsonian does not replace him as the candidate now or after he loses at the polls. And if Hamilton has anything to do with this, I must also tell him to stop it this.

“These elections are too important to the people of this constituency to play around. I will continue to be the clear choice for the people. My campaign is not against PAM and Hamilton. My campaign is for the continued transformation in the lives of the people of constituency 8 and this Federation.”
