By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AFTER the Court found him guilty last week Tuesday for Battery on Police and Assaulting a Police, former Tourism Minister Lindsay Grant yesterday (Nov. 21) appeared before a Magistrate for his Sentencing Hearing and was fined for the offences.

According to the Police Force Grant was ordered “to pay a fine of fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500.00) on each charge, to be paid forthwith or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment on each charge at H.M Prison”.

It was noted that “if the fine is paid as the court ordered then no criminal conviction is to be recorded against the defendant”.

He was represented by Senior Counsel, KC, Henry Browne and Marissa Hobson-Newman, while Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Greates Gordon-Hazel appeared for the Prosecution.

The Police Force disclosed that Grant was discharged after the fines were subsequently paid to the cashier at the Magistrate Department.

In a previous media statement, the Police Force said: “On November 14th, 2023, Lindsay Grant was convicted on two (2) charges: Battery of a Police Officer, and Assaulting a Police Officer. The offences were committed on January 8th, 2022, at Last Lap Bar in Bird Rock, St. Kitts. Mr. Grant’s sentence will be passed on November 21st, 2023.”
