Traffic accident victim succumbs

By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - SIX days after his involvement in a traffic accident, 50-year-old Andrew Miller of Upper College Street succumbed to his injuries.

According to a police media statement, following a vehicular accident on Saturday (Nov. 18), Miller died on Friday (Nov. 24) at the Joseph N France General Hospital.

The accident, police stated, occurred near the Basseterre Moravian Church, and preliminary investigations revealed that while Miller was travelling on his motor scooter from north to south, he collided with the church’s wall at Upper College Street.

An ambulance subsequently transported him to the Joseph N. France General Hospital, where it was determined that he had sustained a severe head injury.

A blood alcohol concentration test had shown that his blood alcohol volume was 285ml or 0.28% - 0.20 above the legal limit - and he was then immediately warded at the Intensive Care Unit.

Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injury.

Police said that an autopsy would soon be performed to determine the cause of his death.

Miller’s death has taken to six, the number of road fatalities recorded in St. Kitts and Nevis for the year.
