BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, November 30, 2023 (MMS-SKN) -- Area Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher One (East Basseterre), and Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon Dr Geoffrey Hanley, on Wednesday evening November 29, took time out to meet with his constituents in an end of month St. Kitts Nevis Labour Party branch meeting held at the constituency office.

“It has been the practice for the East Basseterre St. Kitts Nevis Labour Branch that the last Wednesday in each month is our usual branch meeting where we bring the entire constituency together and a number of issues are being discussed,” said the Hon Hanley at the meeting, which was held on the grounds of the branch office on Pond Road.

The meeting was special as it was dubbed End of the Year Branch Meeting BBQ Lime, as no branch meeting will be held in December on account of Christmas and Carnival activities.

The Deputy Prime Minister explained that the branch meeting was an opportunity for him to also hear from the constituents, not only those who are with him on party basis, but everybody in the constituency can attend the branch meeting.

“This evening being the last Wednesday in November, and most likely it will be the last one for 2023, because of how Christmas fall in next month, we decided to just have a social evening where our residents came out and partook in our barbeque that we had and play games, chit chat,” said the Area Parliamentary Representative.

He was supported by the Branch Executive of East Basseterre St. Kitts Nevis Labour Party, led by Chairperson, Ms Thamesha Fyfield, who though she was not present she is the one who made all the arrangements that made the branch meeting the success that it was, including taking on the responsibility of dealing with some of the food items and the drinks that were served.

Taking charge on the ground were Branch Secretary Ms Tanessa Caines, and Assistant Treasurer Mrs Sandra Blackman-Riley, who were assisted by other members of the Branch Executive.

Manning the grill to ensure that food was provided to all present, including grilled green corn which proved to be very popular, was Chef Ayinde ‘Yanday’ Osborne. Music was provided by DJ Miguel Ponteen. The Deputy Prime Minister also saluted those members who remained behind to clean up the area after everyone would have left.

“This is something that we have been doing for decades, and it is something that we intend to continue,” said the Hon Dr Hanley. “I as the Parliamentary Representative, it is my intention to continue to engage our people in various forums and this is one way having a social barbeque, certain games, and lime; so I am looking forward to 2024 by God’s Grace will be better positioned to serve the people of East Basseterre.”
