Wednesday 29th November, 2023 -- National Political Leader of the People’s Labour Party (PLP), Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris has expressed his most sincere thanks to all who have extended best wishes to him on the occasion of his 30th anniversary of being elected to serve as the Member of Parliament for St. Christopher 7.
Dr. Harris said, “To my constituents, I acknowledge that your unwavering help and support have been the cornerstone of my journey, and I cherish each one of you dearly. Today, I express my deep gratitude for your kind words and deeds that have fueled my commitment to public service. I acknowledge the good wishes from everyone at home and abroad who have commended my performance as Member of Parliament, Minister of Government and Prime Minister.”
In a statement marking this momentous milestone, Dr. Harris also recorded his appreciation to the good people of Constituency #7 who have, for three decades, reposed their trust and confidence in him.
He noted, “Our bond In Constituency #7 is not just political; it’s a genuine love affair. Love of people. Love of duty. Love of constituency. Love of country.”
Dr. Harris was first elected to serve the people on November 29, 1993. On account of his excellent service and representation, he went on to win in every general election held in St. Kitts and Nevis since then—1995, 2000, 2004, 2010, 2015, 2020 and 2022.
Throughout his illustrious political career, Dr. Harris has served in almost all ministries of government. He served as Minister of Finance, Foreign Affairs, Education, Social Security, and Land and Housing. The height of Dr. Harris’ political career came in 2015 when he was sworn in as the country’s third prime minister.
In the seven years as Prime Minister, Dr. Harris led St. Kitts and Nevis to its best economic and financial standings in history. Also, during his productive tenure as Prime Minister, St. Kitts and Nevis enjoyed unprecedented levels of peace and security, thanks, in large part, to the groundbreaking policies and programmes implemented under his watch, including the Peace Programme and the Explorers Club initiative.
“To the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, I extend my love and appreciation. It is an honor to serve you and our beloved country,” Dr. Hon. Timothy Harris concluded.
