BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - POLICE confirmed that they are probing the robbery of a grocery store in the St. Peter's area.
The robbery took last Monday (Jan .15) at Yern Hum Grocery Store in Lower Monkey Hill, St. Peter’s.
Police, in a statement issued late yesterday (Jan. 18), said that around 2:30 p.m. on the day in question, two masked assailants, one of whom was armed with a machete, entered the establishment and stole a sum of money from the cash register and fled the scene on foot.
There has been growing concerns over the recent spate of violence occurring in the Federation.
In recent times, several business establishments, including supermarkets owned and operated by Chinese nationals, have been targeted.
Last year, police had called on establishments to upgrade their security systems to protect against banditry.
