BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AFTER being found in possession of an illegal firearm and a quantity of ammunition over three years ago, Rayjon Richards of St. Paul’s was found guilty on Friday (Feb. 2) and sentenced to serve a number of years at His Majesty’s Prison.
Police, in a press statement, said that Richards was charged with Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition on November 4, 2020, and on appearance in court before His Honour Reynold Benjamin, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to serve being four years on the first charge and eight months on the second.
Both sentences are to run concurrently.
Over the last several years, the police have been challenged by the issue of illegal firearms being found on the streets of the Federation.
On average, between 2012 and 2021, the Federation had 25 illegal firearms removed from the streets.
